Benefits of Eurasian design patents

As you may know that the Eurasian Patent Office officially started operation of EA patents for industrial designs since June 1,2021.At present a Eurasian industrial design patent covers seven Eurasian member-states: Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
We can file Eurasian design applications through EAPO ONLINE system and use this system for all further communication.
The benefits of a Eurasian design patent are as follows:
- when filed, a Eurasian design application becomes automatically valid in all seven Eurasian member-states;
- up to 100 industrial designs belonging to one ICID class can be claimed in one design application, and moreover there is NO need to comply with the requirement for a "single creative concept";
- an image of a design can be presented in a wide range of options – from contour drawings to digital images of a whole product and fragments of articles as well as photographic images;
- since November 1, 2022 a Eurasian design application may include a digital three-dimensional (3D) model visualizing an industrial design;
- an initial term of validity of a EA design patent is 5 years from the filing date.The term can be extended maximum for 25 years from the filing date by paying the accumulated annual fees four times every 5 years.
